Thoughts and Impressions
The author’s writing style is personable and organic. The reader gets immersed and is almost pulled along on Jordan’s adventure. From the disbelief of his parents, the stress of being truthful with yourself or keeping the status quo, the rage and thirst for revenge, to the pain of simply not knowing; it is all there.
There are plenty of twists in the story, but they really aren’t that unexpected. It reminds us of riding a new roller coaster. You know there is a big hill coming up, as well as a few loops and corkscrews, but still… your heart skips a beat or two just before you plunge down into the next part of the story.
One drawback that I can see is in the development of the bad guy. I would have liked to see more background, more detail into who he is and was. There was so much hinted at, but never really explored. Perhaps the author was saving it for another book, or wanted to keep the story geared toward a younger audience. It’s hard to say.
